In the movie Annie, there was a song entitled You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile
(1982).
Some of the lyrics remind us:
Who cares what
they're wearing
On Main Street,
Or Saville Row,
It's what you wear
from ear to ear
And not from head
to toe
(That matters)
I agree, a smile can be
contagious, and we need more positivity in this world we live in. A smile can
give someone courage and hope, assurance and laughter, more so than merely the
clothes we wear.
However, there is something
else we need to ensure we adorn every day if we want to be fully dressed. It will also help give us a reason to smile. It is
the Whole Armor of God, Ephesians 6:10-18.
loins girt about with truth
breastplate of righteousness
feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
shield of faith
helmet of salvation
sword of the Spirit
This armor will enable us to “stand
against the wiles of the devil, withstand in the evil day, [and] quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked”, while we are “Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints.”
Don’t start your day without
being fully dressed. Adorn the armor of God, and put a smile on your face.
Remember, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.”
