Steps to Salvation
Blue | Step 3

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6

In John 14:6, Jesus says that He is:
  1. the way,
  2. the truth,
  3. and the life.
Notice Jesus does not say "A WAY" but "THE WAY". There is a vast difference. And so important is the difference that it separates Christianity from most (if not all) other religions or spiritualism (formal or informal, denominational or nondenominational, or personal). For if Christ is "THE WAY" and not simply "A WAY" then there can be no other way. If Christ is "THE TRUTH" then there can be found no truth outside of him; for he is called the "WORD" of God in John 1. And if he be "THE LIFE" then there is truly no life without him; for it is he who declared in John 10 that he did come that we might have life, and have it more abundantly.

Jesus says, "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." We must first come to Christ ("the way, the truth, and the life") that we may come unto the Father. To believe or claim we can or have come unto the Father by any other means but through Christ is to deceive ourselves. Nor can we come unto Christ on our own terms. We must humble ourselves before the Son of God, follow his way, submit unto his truth, and only then can we glimpse his offering of life which shall bring us into fellowship with the Father.
