Apple Watch | Breathe | Pray

If you have an Apple Watch and have upgraded to watchOS 3, you have no doubt noticed the Breathe app appearing from time to time. According to Apple, “the Breathe app guides you through a series of deep breaths that can help you better manage everyday stress or just experience a few calming moments.” The settings can be changed by accessing the Watch app on your iPhone, then the Breathe app settings.

How many really use this app? I for one found myself dismissing it every time it appeared. So, I have an idea. What if I use it as a Prayer app instead? I can have it notify me every hour, 3 hours, 5 hours, or 7 hours to pray.

Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 that we are to “Pray without ceasing.” Maybe this Breathe app can help us remember to pray for personal and corporate requests we hear and know about, but sometimes fail to think about during our busy schedules each day. It’s not that we don’t care, we just need a gentle reminder to cause us to pause outside of ourselves for a moment.

There are other Prayer apps in the iTunes store, but here is an easy way (already built into the watchOS) to help each of us stay in fellowship with God and to remember others.

Try it and see if it works for you!
