What We Believe
Blue | Question 10
What does the Bible say about our relationship to God?
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
1 Peter 2:9
As Christians we are to be set apart from the world, in that we should be seen as different; not in a prideful, "high and mighty" way, but rather in a righteous way as obedient believers in Christ.
We were not chosen, nor are we royal, holy, and peculiar, because we are somehow better than everyone else. We are these things by the grace of God, through repentance of sin and faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
And because we have been forgiven, because we have been redeemed, we are to "shew forth the praises of him who hath called [us] out of darkness into his marvellous light."
Our relationship with God is royal, holy, and peculiar because of who God is, not because of who we were, are, or will be. Let's keep the right perspective, and share it with the world.
