The book of John begins similar to the book of Genesis:
John 1:1 — In the beginning: God
Genesis 1:1 — In the beginning: God
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [John 1:1]
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [Genesis 1:1]
In Genesis 1 through 2:3, we see the unfolding of the seven days of creation. Or, rather, the six days of creation and then a day of rest. Likewise, in John 1:3 we learn, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." The "him" spoken of here is the Word.
The Word is said to be "with God" and "was God".
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. [John 1:14]
Who is the Word, the only begotten of the Father? Jesus Christ.
I and my Father are one. [John 10:30]
Therefore, we can conclude, Jesus Christ had a hand in creation, our creation.
Jesus said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." [John 12:32]
John declares the Word to be the Light. Is it possible that Jesus Christ, the creator of heaven and earth, "which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" [John 1:9] uses creation as a means to draw men to God?
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: [Romans 1:20]
With the revelation comes a warning:
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. [Romans 1:18-19]
Creation bears record of God, of Jesus Christ. Therefore, have a choice to make. We can worship God as our Creator and come to Christ as the Light, or we can be as those:
...when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools... [Romans 1:21-22]
What will it be? To reject the Light is to abide in darkness. [John 8:12; John 12:46]
